The Impact of Digital Connection on Human Interaction

Aristotle famously proclaimed, but who could have predicted the rise of Homo isolates, the species only seen on webcams?

In this exciting project, we were invited by journalist Shelby Welinder to create a video that examines what is lost through digital connection and identifies its impact on human interaction.

Our client had the voiceover text ready and knew they wanted mixed media style from the start. This was music to our ears since we absolutely love working with this technique! We helped shape the visual part of the script and produced the animation.

One of the goals of the video was to show how communicating only through digital means can dehumanize us.

So, we literally stripped the characters' faces of their features, leaving them empty and expressionless. We combined the retro style with digital glitches, which serve as a reminder of the limitations we face when relying solely on digital communications.

It was all about striking a balance between thought-provoking and entertaining.

While our video tackles serious themes and creates a dystopian vibe, it was essential for us to inject doses of humor throughout the story. It was crucial to keep the viewers engaged and offer moments of levity.
